When talking to employers in the PR industry, my experience is that they are keen to offer work experience placements to school aged children, and internships or apprenticeships to school leavers/graduates. Employers know that to secure the future of their industry they need to invest in junior talent and encourage the next generation to get PR experience. Continue reading
A couple of weeks ago I went to Birmingham for the first time ever to attend the Comms2Point0 UnAwards 2016.
UnAwards are not like the usual glitzy Grosvenor House affairs. This was much more casual – held in a cinema with sweets to watch a movie with. It was a pretty full house and it was really clear to see that the comms industry is thriving with some really interesting and innovative campaigns being show cased.

I’m currently mid-way through delivering the current Taylor Bennett Foundation programme. We’re also about to publish our impact report, which spells out in stark figures the outcomes we’ve achieved over the past nine years including this astonishing statistic: 93% of our alumni are employed – 81% of which are working in PR & communications. That’s pretty good going.
As a PR graduate in Romania, with some experience in event management whilst a student, I moved in the UK a couple of years ago knowing that landing a job in PR would be a mission. Fresh out the plane, I got a job in customer services offering advice on several Government green initiatives. I learnt all the bells and whistles about solar energy and ground source heat pumps. Within six months of my employment, I was the first on the list to had exceeded all targets therefore, I was asked to apply for the team leader vacancy made available. Continue reading
